Xuan Thuy National Park is the biggest bird park in Vietnam with over 200 bird species spotted of which over 150 species are migratory birds and over 50 species are sedentary birds. The number of individual birds spotted at the Xuan Thuy National Park is over 33,000 in a year.
Best time for bird-watching tours at the Xuan Thuy National Park
Best time for birding is during the dry and cool season from late October through April. During this time a large number of bird species migrating southwards and it is abundant in food at the Xuan Thuy National Park that several bird species choose to stop over or stay here for several days. To a lesser degree, there are birds which migrate northwards in the summer months from May through July; these birds choose to stay at the Xuan Thuy National Park thanks to abundant food and often mild temperatures.
It is possible for birding tours in the summer and autumn if it is not the time the region is under impact of a typhoon: July-October.

Detailed itinerary
Day1 Hanoi - Nam Dinh - Giao Thuy - Xuan Thuy National Park/Birding at Con Ngan Island (specialist tour guide at Xuan Thuy included) (L/D)
0800 Our driver picks you up from your hotel and we travel to Xuan Thuy National Park.
1130 Arrive at Xuan Thuy, have some refreshment and easy stroll around the national park head quarters.
1200 Lunch.
1330-1730 Boat trip for bird watching at the Con Lu Island. The island is especially crowded with migratory birds during the winter months.
Overnight at Xuan Thuy.
Day2 Xuan Thuy-Hanoi (specialist tour guide at Xuan Thuy included)/Depart Xuan Thuy for Hanoi (B/L)
Breakfast at the park.
0530-0830 Take a boat trip to the Con Ngan Island and enjoy bird watching when early risers scavenging for food. The site is good for spotting both sedentary birds and migratory species.
0900 Arrive back at the guest house for breakfast.
1000-1130 More bird-watching on the walking trails.
1200-1300 Check out and lunch.
1300-1630 Travel back to Hanoi. End of service.
