Xuan Thuy National Park is in Giao Thuy District, Nam Dinh Province, 150km southeast of Hanoi. The national park is on a rivermouth where the Red River discharges its water into the East Sea. The national park is listed as a Ramsar site and one of Global Biosphere Reserves by the UNESCO.
The national park covers an area of 15,000 hectares with 1.583+ fauna species, 330+ flora species, 222+ bird species. Xuan Thuy National Park is a destination for migratory birds, especially aquatic bird species:
- Those birds from the far northern places territories and countries to winter from October through April;
- Those bird species from southern Vietnam and Cambodia to escape the heat.
