The Cat Tien National Park is in Nam Cat Tien Commune of Dong Nai Province, hence once referred to as the Nam Cat Tien National Park. The national park is 160km from either Da Lat or Saigon Ho Chi Minh City.
Cat Tien is located in between the Central Highlands and the lowland of southern Vietnam. This helps to make it home to several bird species of high altitudes and of low altitudes. In fact, Cat Tien is among the most popular birding places in Vietnam.
