The Bach Ma National Park is located in Thua Thien Hue Province (Hue) elevations of over 1,000m above sea level. The national park covers an area of over 37,000 hectares and is in between the different climatic regions of Vietnam. The national park is bounded by the Laotian border to the west and the East Sea to the east.
There are 363 species at Bach Ma with representative birds of different climatic zones of Vietnam and with rare and endangered bird species.
Bach Ma annual rainfalls are between 3,400-4,000mm per annum and the annual rainfall could reach 9,000mm/year. The birding season at Bach Ma is very short in between the end of February through April. At other times of the year, the weather is just unpredictable and whenever it rains, it is advised not to visit the national park due to steep, small and slippery road covered in fogs.
