Ayutthaya City is the capital of Ayutthaya Province, 86km north of Bangkok. The city was founded in 1350 A.D as the capital of Ayutthaya Kingdom, the second Siamese Kingdom after Sukhothai. In 1767, Ayutthaya was invaded and destroyed by the Burmese, hence the collapse of the kingdom.
