Ayutthaya City is the capital of Ayutthaya Province, 86km north of Bangkok. The city was founded in 1350 A.D as the capital of Ayutthaya Kingdom, the second Siamese Kingdom after Sukhothai. In 1767, Ayutthaya was invaded and destroyed by the Burmese, hence the collapse of the kingdom. The Ayutthaya historical park, which is the ruins of the former Siamese kingdom, was listed by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Sukhothai

Sukhothai was established in the 13th century A.D and was the first ever Thai Kingdom. The draw-card of local tourism is Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sukhothai is 400km north of Bangkok and 320km south of Chiang Mai.

Chiang Rai Province is located to the top north of Thailand sharing the border with Laos and Myanmar. Chiang Rai City was established in the 7th century A.D and was the capital of Lanna Kingdom from 1262-1296 A.D.  The province is home to abundant natural beauties and traditional hill tribes and offers great opportunities for adventure holidays such as trekking, hiking an, mountain-biking, elephant-ride... Chiang Rai is 789km from Bangkok, 185km (3 hours) drive from Chiang Mai.
