The motorbike tour Vietnam is an off-the-beaten path adventure from the North to the Central Region for 12 days 11 nights.

Tour Overview

The trip is designed for travelers who love riding motorcycle through scenic nature and travel to less-visited beauties of Vietnam.

On the tour, you will visit ethnic communities, less-visited national parks with perse ecosystem, former Mountains at Tan Lac, Hoa Binhbattlefields and UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Phong Nha – Ke Bang, Hue and Hoi An. Much of our trip is on the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail where some of modern history of Vietnam is to be learned.

The pace of travel is moderate that you will ride a bicycle for more or less 200km per day on paved roads. AdventureGreen tries not to have our trip via busy roads and much of our ride on this tour is on quiet roads, some are traffic-free.

Detailed itinerary

Day1 Hanoi – Mai Chau (150km) (no included meals)

We take Route 6 leaving Hanoi for the North-West. Once out of the city, you can feel the fresh air and the quiet scenery around. The first half of the trip is on flat terrain with amazing mountains along the way, the second half is more uphill with breathtaking view every now and again. Our destination is Mai Chau Valley, inhabited by White Thai ethnic minority. We stay with a Thai family in a house on stilts tonight.

Day2 Mai Chau – Ben En National Park (170km) (Nhu Thanh, Thanh Hoa)/Visit Ben En (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.
We ride on a mountain road leaving Mai Chau for the idyllic countryside of Thanh Hoa Province. There are rice paddies with outcrops along the way that you may like to stop often to take in with the camera.

At Thanh Hoa, we also start riding on the first leg of the historical Ho Chi Minh Trail which supplied war materials from the North to the South of Vietnam during the war. We arrive at Ben En National Park in early afternoon. The rest of the day is for exploring the national park.

Day3 Ben En – Vu Quang National Park (240km)/Visit Vu Quang (B)

We leave Ben En and take on the Ho Chi Minh Trail again for Vu Quang National Park. The park has a rich system of wild life and is home to Sao La (Vu Quang Ox, Vu Quang bovid) which is one of the world's rarest mammals. The afternoon is for visiting Vu Quang National Park.

Day4 Vu Quang – Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park (200km)/Tour of Phong Nha Ke Bang (B)

On the fourth day, we ride on Ho Chi Minh Trail again for Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. The afternoon is for visiting the Paradise Cave and the park. Near Phong Nha – Ke Bang, Ho Chi Minh Trail forks out into 2 branches: Ho Chi Minh Trail the East and the West.

Day5 Phong Nha – Ke Bang – Khe Sanh DMZ (200km)/Tour of the former battlefields (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.
We take the eastern leg of Ho Chi Minh Trail and travel via the former Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Then, we take the historical Route 9 toward Laotian border. We will visit a number of sites which were famous during the war including: the Rockpile, McNamara Line, Dakrong Bridge, Khe Sanh Combat Base, Lang Vay.

Day6 Khe Sanh – A Luoi (100km)/Tour of the former war sites (B)Dakrong Bridge on Ho Chi Minh Trail

Breakfast at the hotel.
We ride on Route 14 to A Luoi. In the afternoon, visit Hamburger Hill to recall the famous battle in 1969.

Day7 A Luoi – Hue/Hue Tour (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.
We ride downhill to Hue City, famed for the Royal Citadel and fine cuisine. The afternoon is for visit of Hue.

Day8 Hue Tour (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.
On the eight day, full day tour of Hue by motorbike. We’ll visit the highlights of Hue: the Imperial Citadel and the Royal Tombs.

Day9 Hue – Bach Ma National Park (backroad route, 100km)

Breakfast at the hotel.
We take the countryside back road to Bach Ma National Park. The afternoon is for visiting the park.

Day10 Bach Ma – Da Nang – Hoi An (100km) (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.
Take the breathtaking road toward Hoi An Old Town. We will stop for adoring the stunning nature at Hai Van Pass (Pass of Sea Clouds). The afternoon is for relaxing in the Old Town which was famous with trade from 16th to 19th century.

Day11 Hoi An – My Son Cham Ruins – Hoi An (150km) (B)

We have the morning riding through the countryside toward My Son Cham Ruins, the once Holy Land of Champa Kingdom. The afternoon is at leisure in the Old Town.

Day12 Hoi An – Da Nang/Depart Da Nang (B)
