Quang Nam Province is in the Central Region of Vietnam. The capital of Quang Nam Province is Tam Ky Town, 70km south of Da Nang City.

Overview

Most travellers to Vietnam know of the province with Hoi An Old Town and My Son Cham Ruins, and not Quang Nam itself. In fact, the province has a number of other tourist attractions that offer great adventure experiences to the travellers who loves straying from the well-beaten track.

To the south-east of Quang Nam you'll find idyllic seaside with fishing communities that offer you with lovely cycling routes by the ocean and through villages. There are seaside hotels and resorts which are ideal for getaway holidays.

The western side of Quang Nam includes rolling hills and forested mountains to the north of the Central Highlands of Vietnam. This area houses a part of the famed Ho Chi Minh Trails that you must have heard of.

1/ Hoi An Old Town

The quaint Old Town of Hoi An was a major commercial sea port in South East Asia in the 16th and 17th centuries. Nowadays Hoi An Old Town is extremely popular to tourists who would spend from a couple of days to a month here to relax. By the Old Town, there are sandy beaches: Hoi An Beach, An Bang Beach, Ha My Beach… that offer great beach holidays.

2/ My Son Cham Ruins

The Sanctuary of My Son which includes Hinduism-style temple ruins was once the most important spiritual site of the Champa Kingdom which thrived in the Central Coast of Vietnam from the 2nd century C.E to the 13th century. 3/ Cu Lao Cham Island

Just 15km from the shore of Hoi An, a trip to the Cu Lao Cham takes 15-20 minutes by power boat. The island offers peaceful fishing villages, deserted powdery sand beaches, colorful coral reefs. 4/ Tam Hai Island

How to get to and how to travel around Quang Nam

1/ By air

The Chu Lai Airport is 35km south of Tam Ky provincial capital, 100km south of either Hoi An or Da Nang. There are daily flights between Ho Chi Minh City – Chu Lai Airport and Hanoi – Chu Lai. Alternatively there are several flights to Da Nang Airport which is 30km from Hoi An Old Town.

2/ By train

There are several trains between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City which stop at either Da Nang Railways Station, Tam Ky Railways Station.

3/ By road

There is Route 1A linking major cities in Vietnam which travels through Quang Nam. There is also a coastal road which links Hoi An and Quang Ngai. Tam Ky is 70km south of Da Nang or Hoi An; Hoi An is 30km from Da Nang.
