Khanh Hoa Province is located in the South Central Region of Vietnam, south of Phu Yen Province and north of Ninh Thuan Province. Khanh Hoa Province is bordered to the east by the East Vietnam Sea and to the west by the mountains of the Central Highlands of Vietnam. 

Overview

The provincial capital of Khanh Hoa is Nha Trang, well-known to the foreign travellers to Vietnam with strips of white sandy beaches and turquoise blue sea water.

Khanh Hoa Province has good infrastructure for tourism including luxury hotels and beach resorts along the beaches of Nha Trang, Dai Lanh, Doc Let… Besides, Khanh Hoa has scenic countryside that offers great bicycle tours or motorbike tours that could be fantastic experiences for your holidays to Vietnam.

Best Time to Visit

Khanh Hoa Province is located in a tropical monsoon climate zone with influence of oceanic climate as well as influence by the geographical terrain.

The best time to visit Khanh Hoa is from late January through March when it is in dry season and the temperatures are very pleasant. It is quite hot, humid and with strong sunshine from May through July; during this time some may love going sunbathing on the beaches.

The rainy season starts from August or late August and the high rainy season is in September – November with torrential rain. It may be worse when the region is under impact of a typhoon which may happen during this period. During the rainy season, sea water the the Municipal Beach in Nha Trang City is quite murky, yet the sea water in the Nha Trang Bay is still clear.

1/ Nha Trang City

This popular beach city is among the most popular travel destinations in Vietnam and is the main attraction in Khanh Hoa Province, with stunning beaches, turquoise blue sea waters, and a buzzing nightlife. You can go snorkeling or scuba diving, take a boat tour to the nearby islands, or visit one of the many local attractions, such as Po Nagar Cham Towers or Long Son Pagoda...

2/ Nha Trang Bay

The Nha Trang Bay has crystal clear and turquoise blue sea water and several deserted islands with sandy beaches. The most beautiful islands are Hon Mun, Hon Tam, Con Se Tre… These uninhabited islands are known for its coral reefs, and rich marine life. You can take a snorkeling or diving trip to explore the underwater world, or just relax on the beautiful beaches. There are several daily boat tours to the Nha Trang Bay and these islands from Nha Trang.

3/ Cam Ranh Bay with its Amazing Beaches and Islands

The Cam Ranh Bay was once a military area and nowadays part of the area is still restricted to the public. But there are several islands and beaches in the area open to the public for tourism and there is a wide range of services nowadays.

Of the beaches in this area, Bai Dai is the most popular destination. Bai Dai Beach is located about 30 km south of Nha Trang, Bai Dai Beach is a quiet and peaceful alternative to the more crowded beaches in Nha Trang City. It's known for its white sand and crystal-clear waters.

4/ Ninh Hoa

Ninh Hoa District is 30-50km north of Nha Trang with lovely beaches and with the beautiful cove of Ninh Van (or Ninh Van Bay). In Ninh Hoa, there is the Doc Let Beach which is popular among Vietnamese tourists.

And the Ba Ho Waterfall in Ninh Hoa is a scenic waterfall amid forest. The waterfall is located about 25 km north of Nha Trang and is a popular spot for swimming and hiking. This is part of a river which starts from the Hon Son Mountain (660m above sea level) and which travels for 10km through primeval forest with several cliffs and waterfalls on its way. There are three big bodies of water on the course of this river, hence the name Ba Ho (Three Lakes).

5/ Dien Khanh Citadel

The citadel was from the 19th century and was a military fortress controlling traffic on Route 1A as well as monitoring security in the neighborhood of militarily strategic importance.

6/ Yang Bay Waterfall

The waterfall is amid forest with lovely landscape and tranquil atmosphere. The waterfall is 45km west of Nha Trang City.

7/ Hon Ma Mountain and Hon Ba Nature Reserve

The hill station is 50km southwest of Nha Trang City with cool climate all year round and with lovely hiking trails amid forest.

How to Get There

The easiest way to get to Khanh Hoa Province is to fly into Cam Ranh International Airport, which is about 30 km south of Nha Trang. From the airport, you can take a taxi or a shuttle bus to get to your destination. If you plan to travel to the north of the province, then there is also the Tuy Hoa Airport which is 120km north of Nha Trang. From Tuy Hoa, it is convenient to travel to the Doc Let Beach, Ninh Van Bay… via a very scenic coastal road.

Besides, there are daily trains between the North and the South of Vietnam which stop at several train stations in the province. Also, there are several commuter buses which connect major cities in Vietnam which pass through Khanh Hoa.

Getting Around

The most common mode of transportation in Khanh Hoa Province is by motorbike or taxi. If you're not comfortable driving a motorbike, you can rent a car or hire a private driver to take you around. There are also commuter buses that connect major cities in the province.
