Adventure Tour to the North-West of Vietnam is a cultural adventure holiday for 7 days, 6 nights. The trip brings you to the rugged mountains in northwestern Vietnam which are home to tens of hill tribes who still maintain a traditional lifestyle for centuries.

The trip could be done all year round, but the best time is in between December and April. Most meals are included on the trip. Accommodations on the journey are with homestay at an ethnic family. Everyday, we travel by car from one community to another and we have enough time to learn about the local life. After dinner each day, it's always an atmospheric cultural exchange with our hosts by the fire.

Detailed itinerary

Day1 ( Monday ) Ha Noi – Mai Chau ( 150km) (L/D)

Depart Hanoi in the morning, we follow the country road for Hoa Binh City. Once out of Hanoi, amazing mountains start coming into view. There are plenty of opportunities for taking photographs of the landscape along the way.

Tonight we stay at Mai Chau Valley, home to a White Thai community. In the evening, we have an opportunity to exchange culture with our hosts - Thai people in their traditional house on stilts.Scenic mountains at Son La Vietnam

Day2 ( Tuesday ) Mai Chau – Son La (190km) (B/L/D)

Breakfast at the homestay.
The road mostly goes up today, the mountains get wilder and the scenery is just spectacular. We’ll stop on the way for you to take in the most impressive landscapes of Vietnam and of the Vietnamese people. We won’t miss the fresh plateau of Moc Chau on the way either. Descending the Moc Chau Plateau, we’ll be mostly on a flat road with idyllic countryside around. Arriving at Son La City, visit the former prison before proceeding to our hotel.

Day3 ( Wednesday ) Son La – Dien Bien Phu (160km) (B/L/D)The Commander in chief bunker in Dien Bien Phu

The road goes up again and the air is fresher. The landscape today is characterized with the sublime beauty of the Pha Din Pass which is 32km in length and which is above 1,000m in elevation.

After the pass, we descend into Muong Thanh Valley, the biggest valley in the North-West of Vietnam. We have the whole afternoon visit the site of the famous battles of Dien Bien Phu between the Vietnamese troops and the French troops in 1954.

Day4 ( Thursday ) Dien Bien Phu – Phong Tho (180km) (B/L/D)

Today we will travel through rugged mountains alternated by scenic valleys. There are various chances to encounter people from various tribes such as Man Tien, Giay, Hmong, Thai, Ha Nhi, Lu,... Phong Tho is an amazing forgotten place with wonderful mountains and forest all around.

Day5 ( Friday ) Phong Tho – Sa Pa (100km ) – Ta Van Village (B/L/D)Muong Hoa Valley, Sapa

Breakfast at the hotel.
Continuing with our great adventure, we will travel uphill on the O Quy Ho Pass. From the top of the pass (2,000m above sea level), you can have a 360-degree view of the surrounding fresh nature. Our destination today is Ta Van Village of the Giay People in Muong Hoa Valley, Sapa District. We’ll have a brief walking tour of Sapa Town before reaching the village.

Day6 ( Saturday ) Ta Van Village – Can Cau Ethnic Market (130km) – Bac Ha (B/L/D)

Breakfast at the homestay.
We bid farewell to our hosts and travel to Bac Ha Plateau. We will visit the colorful market of Can Cau where ethnic people in the region gather only once per week (Saturday morning). At the market, you can take part in the bargaining with the locals for the traditional brocades or agricultural produce. Our hosts tonight are a Hmong Family at Ban Pho in Bac Ha District.

Day7 ( Sunday ) Bac Ha Sunday Market (1.5 hour) /Bac Ha – Ha Noi (320km) (B/L)

On the seventh day, we have 1 hour 30 minutes taking photos of Bac Ha Market. Then, we travel by road back to Hanoi.We arrive in Hanoi in late afternoon concluding our great adventure to the North-West of Vietnam.
