Vietnamese Crested argus (Trĩ sao, Rheinardia ocellata)
The Vietnamese crested argus (Rheinardia ocellata) is a large and spectacular peafowl-like species of bird in the pheasant family Phasianidae.
The bird is found in submontane primary forests of Vietnam and Laos in Southeast Asia.
Phasianidae from Phasianus: Latin for "pheasant", derived from the Ancient Greek φἀσιἀνος, phāsiānos, meaning "(bird) of the Phasis", the River Phasis (now the Rioni) in Colchis on the east coast of the Black Sea (now western Georgia).
"Ocellata" is Latin and means "marked with spots" or "little eyes," referring to spots resembling eyes. It is a Latin adjective derived from the word ocellus, which means "little eye".
