Cinereous Tit in Vietnam

Periparus is a genus of birds in the tit family Paridae. 
The genus includes bird species which were formerly included in the genus Parus. 


The genus name, is Ancient Greek peri plus the pre-existing genus Parus.
parus or paru: Latin for tit or chickadee.
In Latin, "-parus" is a suffix (from pariō, meaning "to give birth" or "to produce").

The genus name Periparus combining Ancient Greek and Latin:
- Prefix (Greek): Derived from \(\pi\epsilon\rho\text{í}\) (peri), meaning "very," "around," or "near".
- Suffix (Latin): Derived from Parus, which is the classic Latin word for a titmouse or tit.
