The Yok Don National Park in the Central Highlands is a little-known bird watching site in Vietnam due to its far-flung location from the main tourist track in the country. But this place is no doubt a hidden gem for birding.

Unless you are a bird watcher, you are more likely to depart the national park of Yok Don after a couple of hours arriving here. And of course you are not likely to recommend a trip to Yok Don to anyone else. This is probably another reason that Yok Don National Park is not visited much. And this makes it much more quiet a place compared to other national parks in Vietnam.

For bird watchers, Yok Don is no doubt the best bird watching site in Vietnam by far for its quietness and number of species of novel birds. Yok Don is home to the biggest number of woodpecker species in Vietnam. You are not likely to find more woodpecker species at any other location in Vietnam compared to those you are to be able to observe at Yok Don. The best time to do this trip is from late November through April.
