Nicobar pigeon or Nicobar dove (Bồ câu nicoba, Caloenas nicobarica)

Nicobar pigeon or Nicobar dove (Bồ câu nicoba, Caloenas nicobarica) is a bird species of the pigeon family Columbidae.

The bird species is found on islands and in coastal regions from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India, east through the Indonesian Archipelago, to the Solomons and Palau.

Columba, Columbidae: Latin columba (“dove, pigeon”). Ancient Greek κόλυμβος (kólumbos, “a diver”), from κολυμβάω (kolumbáō, “dive, plunge headlong, swim”).
The genus name Caloenas combines the Ancient Greek kalos meaning "beautiful" with oinas meaning "dove".
