Spoonbills are a genus, Platalea, of large, long-legged wading birds. The genus name Platalea derives from Ancient Greek and means "broad", referring to the shape of the bill.

2/ Eurasian spoonbill (Cò thìa Á Âu, Platalea leucorodia), or common spoonbill
leucorodia is from Ancient Greek leukerodios: leukos, "white" and erodios "heron".
