Himalayan owl or Himalayan wood owl (Strix nivicolum)

The Himalayan owl or Himalayan wood owl (Strix nivicolum) is a medium-sized owl native to the forests and mountain ranges of the Himalayas, Taiwan and Korea.

Strigidae: The family for all Owls except Barn Owls, derived from "Strix", a Latin word for owl (also the same in Greek).
The term "nivicolum" is derived from Latin, meaning "snow" or "of snow".
