Black hornbill (Cao cát đen, Anthracoceros malayanus)
The black hornbill (Anthracoceros malayanus) is a species of bird of the hornbill family Bucerotidae.
The bird species is found in Asia in Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand.
Bucerotiformes, Bucerotidae, Buceros: Latin bucerus horned like an ox (Greek boukeros: horned like an ox: bous ox; keros: horn).
The name Anthracoceros is a combination of the Ancient Greek words:
- ανθραξ anthrax, ανθρακος anthrakos meaning "coal black" ,
- and κερας keras, κερως kerōs meaning "horn".
