Locustellidae

    Pallas's grasshopper warbler (Helopsaltes certhiola), also known as the rusty-rumped warbler, is an Old World warbler in the grass warbler genus Helopsaltes, the family Locustellidae.

    Bradypterus is a genus of small insectivorous songbirds ("warblers") in the newly recognized grass warbler family (Locustellidae). 

  • Locustella

    The grass warblers (Grasshopper Warbler) are small passerine birds belonging to the genus Locustella, now considered the northernmost representatives of a largely Gondwanan family, the Locustellidae.

    The genus name Locustella is from Latin and is a diminutive of locusta, "grasshopper".

    Formerly placed in the "Old World warbler" assemblage as Bradypterus luteoventrus, it is now placed in the newly recognized family Locustellidae.

    4/ Russet bush warbler (Chích nâu đỏ, Locustella mandelli)
    The scientific name commemorates the Italian naturalist Louis Mandelli.

    5/ Dalat bush warbler (Locustella idonea)

    also known as Annam Grasshopper-Warbler
    Some authorities still consider Dalat bush warbler (Locustella idonea) conspecific with the russet bush warbler. 

  • Locustellidae

    Locustellidae is a newly recognized family of small insectivorous songbirds ("warblers"), formerly placed in the Old World warbler "wastebin" family. It contains the grass warblers, grassbirds, and the Bradypterus "bush warblers".

  • Megalurus

    The genus Megalurus, family  formerly included additional species but now only one: Striated grassbird.

    1/ Striated grassbird (Chiền chiện lớn, Megalurus palustris) 
    The striated grassbird (Megalurus palustris) is a warbler species in the family Locustellidae, formerly placed in the family Sylviidae, is now the only species placed in the genus Megalurus.
    palustris paluster,  palustre (adj.B): inhabiting marshes, bogs, fens; see paludosus,-a,-um (adj.A); see swampy.
    palustris, is from the Latin word palus, which means of marshes or swamps and refers to its native habitat.
