The ashy wood pigeon (Columba pulchricollis) is a member of the bird family Columbidae, found in temperate forests of southeastern Asia.

Columba: Latin columba (“dove, pigeon”). Ancient Greek κόλυμβος (kólumbos, “a diver”), from κολυμβάω (kolumbáō, “dive, plunge headlong, swim”).
pulchricollis: Latin pulcher beautiful; Latin -collis -necked ( Latin collum neck).

The pale-capped pigeon (Columba punicea) is a pigeon species of the family Columbidae. 
This bird species is found patchily distributed in parts of the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia: northern and northeastern India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.

The specific epithet livia is a Medieval Latin variant of livida, "livid, bluish-grey".
