Timaliidae

  • Cyanoderma

    Cyanoderma is a genus of passerine birds in the Old World babbler family Timaliidae. 
    Many of these species were formerly placed in the genus Stachyris. 
    The name combines the Ancient Greek kuanos meaning "dark-blue" with derma meaning "skin".

    1/ Chestnut-winged babbler (Khướu bụi bụng trắng, Cyanoderma erythropterum)

    2/ Rufous-capped babbler (Khướu bụi đầu đỏ, Cyanoderma ruficeps) 

    3/ Buff-chested babbler (Khướu bụi đầu hung, Cyanoderma ambiguum)

    4/ Golden babbler (Khướu bụi vàng, Cyanoderma chrysaeum)
    Earlier name was Stachyris chrysaea.

    5/ Rufous-fronted babbler (Khướu bụt trán hung, Cyanoderma rufifrons)
    Once placed in Stachyris, and Stachyridopsis

  • Erythrogenys

    Erythrogenys is a genus of scimitar babblers, jungle birds with long downcurved bills.

    1/  Rusty-cheeked scimitar babbler (Họa mi đất má trắng, Erythrogenys erythrogenys) 

    2/ Large scimitar babbler (Họa mi đất mỏ dài, Erythrogenys hypoleucos)

  • Mixornis

    Mixornis is a genus of passerine birds in the Old World babbler family Timaliidae.
    These species were formerly placed in the genus Macronus. 

    The genus name combines the Ancient Greek mixis meaning "mixed" or "mingling" with ornis meaning "bird".

    1/ Pin-striped tit-babbler (Chích chạch má vàng, Mixornis gularis), also known as the yellow-breasted babbler
    2/ Grey-faced tit-babbler (Chích chạch má xám, Mixornis kelleyi)

    Pomatorhinus is a genus of scimitar babblers, jungle birds with long downcurved bills.

    Timaliidae, Timalia: The word "Timalo" originates in the Greek "Thimalos", which means "bird". This Greek root was adapted to Latin as "Timalus" and later to Portuguese as "Timalo".

    Pomarinus Pomatorhinus / pomatorhinus Greek: poma,pomatos lid, cover; rhis, rhinos nostrils.

    1/ White-browed scimitar babbler (Họa mi đất mày trắng, Pomatorhinus schisticeps) 

    2/ Red-billed Scimitar-Babbler (Họa mi đất mỏ đỏ, Pomatorhinus ochraceiceps) 

    3/ Black-crowned scimitar babbler (Họa mi đất ngực hung, Pomatorhinus ferruginosus)

    4/ Streak-breasted scimitar babbler (Họa mi đất ngực luốc, Pomatorhinus ruficollis)

    5/ Slender-billed scimitar babbler (Khướu mỏ cong, Pomatorhinus superciliaris) 
     formerly placed in the monotypic genus Xiphirhynchus.

    Spelaeornis, the typical wren-babblers, is a bird genus in the family Timaliidae. 

    1/ Naga wren-babbler or long-tailed wren-babbler (Khướu đất đuôi dài, Spelaeornis chocolatinus)

  • Stachyris

    Stachyris is a genus of passerine birds in the Old World babbler family Timaliidae.
    The genus name combines the Ancient Greek stakhus meaning "ear of wheat" and rhis, rhinos meaning "nostrils".

    1/ Grey-throated babbler (Khướu bụi đầu đen, Stachyris nigriceps)
    The specific epithet nigriceps is from Latin niger meaning "black" and "-ceps" meaning "-headed".

    2/ Spot-necked babbler (Khướu bụi đốm cổ, Stachyris strialata) 

    3/ Sooty babbler (Khướu đá mun, Stachyris herberti)
