  • Leioptila

    The genus Leioptila includes a single species of passerine birds in the family Leiothrichidae.

    Leioptila leio From Ancient Greek λεῖος (leîos, “smooth”). ptila/ptilo feather.

    1/ Rufous-backed sibia (Khướu lùn lưng hung, Leioptila annectens)
    formerly placed in the genus Heterophasia or Minla.

  • Leiothrix

    Leiothrix is a genus of passerine birds in the family Leiothrichidae.
    They belong to a clade also containing at least the liocichlas, barwings, minlas and sibias. The sibias are possibly their closest living relatives.
    The genus name combines the Ancient Greek leios meaning "smooth" and thrix meaning "hair".

    1/ Red-billed leiothrix (Kim oanh mỏ đỏ, Leiothrix lutea) 
    The specific epithet lutea is from Latin luteus meaning "saffron-yellow".

    2/ Silver-eared mesia (Kim oanh tai bạc, Leiothrix argentauris)

  • Leptocoma

    Leptocoma is a genus of sunbirds found from tropical South Asia to Papua New Guinea. Its members are sometimes included in Nectarinia.
    The name Leptocoma combines the Ancient Greek words leptos "delicate" or "fine" and kome "hair".

    1/ Purple-throated sunbird (Hút mật họng hồng, Leptocoma sperata)
    Earlier considered conspecific with Van Hasselt's sunbird (Leptocoma brasiliana)
    The specific name sperata is Latin for "bride" or "betrothed".

    2/ Copper-throated sunbird (Hút mật lưng đen, Leptocoma calcostetha)
    The species name calcostetha originates from the words khalkos which means bronze; and stēthos which means breast.

    3/ Van Hasselt's sunbird (Leptocoma brasiliana)

    The liocichlas are a group of birds in the genus of the same name, Liocichla, from the family Leiothrichidae.

    Lioparus is a genus of passerine birds in the family Paradoxornithidae of the order Passeriformes.

    Malacocincla is a genus of passerine birds in the family Pellorneidae.
    The genus name Malacocincla combines the Ancient Greek malakos meaning "soft" with modern Latin cinclus, meaning "thrush"; referring to the birds' full and drooping plumage

    1/ Abbott's babbler (Chuối tiêu mỏ to, Malacocincla abbotti)
    The specific name abbotti was chosen by Blyth to honour the specimen collector, Lieutenant Colonel J. R. Abbott (1811–1888).
