    The greater adjutant (Leptoptilos dubius) is a member of the stork family, Ciconiidae.

    Ciconiiformes, Ciconiidae: from Latin ciconia for stork.
    The genus name means thin (lepto) feather (ptilos). 
    Dubius in Latin means doubtful, uncertain, vacillating, or "of two minds," derived from duo ("two"). It refers to fluctuating between options, causing suspicion, or being unreliable.
