Columbidae is the only family in the order Columbiformes. The family consists of doves and pigeons. The family contains 344 species divided into 50 genera. Thirteen of the species are extinct.

Chalcophaps is a genus of small doves, commonly called emerald doves, that are found in Indomalaya and Australasia.
In the Ancient Greek language: khalkos meaning "bronze" and phaps meaning "pigeon".

Spilopelia is a genus of doves that are closely related to Streptopelia, yet distinguished from them by differences in morphology and behavior. 
The name Spilopelia combines the Ancient Greek spilos meaning "spot" and peleia meaning "dove".
1/ Spotted dove (Cu gáy, Cu đất, Spilopelia chinensis)
Another name was Streptopelia chinensis.
Formerly included in the genus Streptopelia with other turtle-doves, but studies suggest that they differ from typical members of that genus. 

Ducula is a genus of the pigeon family Columbidae, collectively known as imperial pigeons.

The genus name Ducula is from the New Latin (originally from from Nepali ḍhukur for “mountain imperial pigeon") dux genitive ducis meaning "leader".

Macropygia is a genus of bird in the pigeon and dove family Columbidae. The genus is one of three genera known as cuckoo-doves.

Macropygia: the Ancient Greek makros meaning "long" or "deep" and "-pugios" meaning "-rumped").

Caloenas is a genus of pigeons. The only living species is the Nicobar pigeon (Caloenas nicobarica).
The genus name combines the Ancient Greek kalos meaning "beautiful" with oinas meaning "dove".

Treron is a genus of bird in the pigeon family Columbidae. Its members are commonly called green pigeons. The genus is distributed across Asia and Africa.

Many authorities split the species from the pompadour green pigeon complex.
