  • Cecropis

    Cecropis is a genus of large swallows found in Africa and tropical Asia in the family Hirundinidae of the order Passeriformes.
    The name of the genus is from the Ancient Greek Kekropis "Athenian woman".

  • Delichon

    Delichon is a small genus of passerine birds that belongs to the swallow family and contains four species called house martins.
    The name of the genus, "Delichon", is an anagram of the Ancient Greek term chelidon meaning swallow.

    dasypus is from Greek meaning "rough-legged".

    2/ Nepal house martin (Nhạn hông trắng Nêpan, Delichon nipalense)
    nipalense refers to Nepal, where the type specimen was obtained.

    3/ Western house martin (Nhạn hông trắng Xibêri, Delichon urbicum), sometimes called the common house martin, northern house martin or, particularly in Europe, just house martin
    The species name urbicum (urbica until 2004, due to a misunderstanding of Latin grammar) means "of the town" in Latin.

  • Ptyonoprogne

    The crag martins are four species of small passerine birds in the genus Ptyonoprogne of the swallow family.
    The genus name is derived from the Greek ptuon meaning "a fan", referring to the shape of the opened tail.

    Procne is the name of a mythological girl who was turned into a swallow.

  • Riparia

    Riparia is a genus of passerine birds in the swallow family Hirundinidae.
    The genus name is from the Latin riparius which means "of the riverbank"; it is derived from the Latin ripa "riverbank".

    1/ Brown-throated martin or brown-throated sand martin (Riparia paludicola)
    The specific epithet paludicola is Latin meaning "marsh-dweller" (from palus, paludis meaning "swamp" and -cola meaning "dweller".

    2/ Sand martin (Nhạn nâu xám, Riparia riparia), also known as the bank swallow (in the Americas), collared sand martin, or common sand martin
