Tien Giang Province is situated to the north of the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. Tien Giang is bordered to the north by Long An Province, to the west and south west by Dong Thap Province, to the south by Vinh Long and Ben Tre Provinces, to the east by the East Vietnam Sea and to the north-west by Ho Chi Minh City.

The capital city of Tien Giang Province is My Tho City, 70km south-west of Ho Chi Minh City (also called Saigon) and 90 km north-east of Can Tho City.
Tien Giang is where the Mekong River concludes its 5,000 km journey from Tibet rinsing its water into the East Vietnam Sea via three river-mouths: Soi Rap, Tieu (Small) and Dai (Big). The length of the Mekong River in Tien Giang is 115 km and the coastline of the province is 32 km.
Tien Giang has flat terrain of about 1m above sea level. The land of Tien Giang is crisscrossed by a system of rivers and creeks with fresh waters and brackish waters, suitable for developing aquaculture.
