Kien Giang is a westernmost province in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. Kien Giang overlooks the Rach Gia Gulf. The sea of Kien Giang borders Cambodia and Thailand. Tourist attractions in Kien Giang include the Phu Quoc Island and offshore islands in the Gulf of Rach Gia, the sea of Rach Gia, the beaches at Ha Tien, U Minh Thuong National Park.

1/ Phu Quoc Island and Other offshore Islands in the Rach Gia Gulf

This beautiful tropical island is a popular tourist destination thanks to its stunning beaches, clear sea waters, quaint fishing villages and stunning sunsets. It's also home to a national park with primeval forest and rich wildlife. The island is about 60km west of Ha Tien Beach and 130km northwest of Rach Gia City.

Phu Quoc is 2 hours flight from Hanoi, 1 hour flight from Ho Chi Minh City. Besides, there are speedboats:

+ Ha Tien – Phu Quoc which takes 1.5 hour each way, several boat trips per day;
+ Rach Gia – Phu Quoc which takes 2.5 hours each way, several boat trips per day.

Alternatively you can take a ferry trip to the island from Ha Tien which takes 3 hours and which is cheaper.

There have been massive developments in tourist infrastructure on the Phu Quoc Island recently. There is a wide range of accommodation choices from budget hostels to luxury beach resorts. And the island is getting to be a very popular destination.

As tourism grows in Phu Quoc, some adventure travelers may like to stray off to more quiet island with untouched natural landscape such as Nam Du, Hai Tac...

2/ Ha Tien

This town is known for its scenic natural beauty with beaches and mountains, historical sites and fusion of ethnic cultures. It's located near the border with Cambodia and has several pristine beaches, temples, pagodas... Ha Tien is 90km northwest of Rach Gia.

3/ U Minh Thuong National Park

The U Minh Thuong National Park is among those in Vietnam typical of wetland habitats and it is enlisted in the Global Biosphere Reserves by the UNESCO. This national park is a great place to explore the rich biodiversity of wetland with fresh water, brackish water and sea water. It's home to several rare and endangered species of plants and animals.

5/ Rach Gia

Rach Gia is the capital city of Kien Giang Province. Rach Gia has an idyllic setting with 20km of coastline, with several creeks and rivers. The city has a cultural fusion of Vietnamese, Chinese and Khmer. There are several temples in the city which are dedicated to either national heroes or locally worshiped saints. There are interesting markets in the city which are must-sees for all visitors.

Rach Gia has a nice waterfront path that you can savor your chilled beer and enjoy the magical sunset!
