Ba Ria Vung Tau Province is bordered to the north by Dong Nai Province, to the north-east by Binh Thuan Province, to the east, the south and south-west by the East-Vietnam Sea, and to the west by Ho Chi Minh City. The province has over 100km of coastline, of which over 70km has sandy beaches. Vung Tau City was among the first destinations in Vietnam that  travellers flocked to for beach holidays.

Also, Ba Ria Vung Tau Province has Con Dao Island, an archipelago  45 minutes from Vung Tau City by helicopter and 1 hour flight from Ho Chi Minh City or Can Tho. There are patches of white sand beaches on Con Dao Island that are untouched by mass tourism.

The provincial capital of Ba Ria Vung Tau Province is Vung Tau City, 125km from Ho Chi Minh City and 150km from Phan Thiet City. Vung Tau City is a peninsula running into the sea from north-east to south-west. The city has 4 main beaches: Bai Dau to the north-west, Bai Truoc (Front Beach) to the west, Bai Dua to the south-west and Bai Sau to the east (Back Beach). Other tourist attractions in Vung Tau City include the White Villa (Bach Dinh), Jesus Statue,  the light house...

Apart from the beaches, Ba Ria Vung Tau Province is home to the nature reserve of  Binh Chau – Phuoc Buu of  11,293 hectares. The nature serve possesses some primeval forest and the hot-spring of Binh Chau which are great for eco-tourism and for soft adventure tours.
